The Nintendo Entertainment System ( NES ), known in Japan as FamiCom it was a console for video games 8-bit produced by Nintendo between 1983 and 1995 .

It is considered by many to be the system that revived the video game industry after the 1983 crisis, above all thanks to the success of titles such as Super Mario Bros, The Legend Of Zelda and Metroid , of a higher quality level than that of the time; the console also introduced a working model now adopted by everyone, namely that of granting licenses for software development to third parties

Considered one of the most important video game consoles of history, in 1995 , the year in which it was definitively removed from the market, it reached almost 62 million units sold, becoming the best-selling gaming machine of its era. In 2009 the IGN site he called it the best video game console of all time.
